Mayo Clinic Ranked as a Top-Performing Academic Medical Center

Mayo Clinic has been identified as one of the nation’s best-performing academic medical centers by the University HealthSystem Consortium.

The consortium created a quality and accountability study in 2005 to help academic medical centers improve health care quality and safety. For this year’s list, UHC analyzed the performances of 101 member institutions in mortality, efficacy, effectiveness, safety, equity and patient centeredness.

As one of the top 10 academic medical centers, Mayo Clinic received the consortium’s Quality Leadership Award. Mayo also made the group’s list last year.

The honor reflects Mayo’s core value: “The needs of the patient come first.”  The three shields in Mayo’s logo represent its commitment to patient care, scientific research and medical education.
