Mayo Clinic and RosettaBooks Release First of Mayo’s e-Book Titles

Mayo Clinic and RosettaBooks have collaborated to release the Mayo Clinic’s first initiative into e-books, Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy, and will follow with at least 15 additional Mayo Clinic e-book titles this year. Mayo Clinic and RosettaBooks’ digital publishing initiative will launch in collaboration with Good Books, which has simultaneously published the trade paperback edition of Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy.
Rosetta will also present the e-book editions of Mayo Clinic’s line of self-published print books, which are currently sold only by direct response by Mayo Clinic. This line covers a wide variety of topics including arthritis, Alzheimer’s, fitness, healthy aging, osteoporosis, pain relief, and other significant health care interests.
Dr. Sidna Tulledge-Scheitel, Medical Director of Mayo Clinic Global Products and Services, noted, “Mayo Clinic has long been a valued resource for America’s families, and we are excited to make our rich repository of books available to consumers in e-book form.”
This October, RosettaBooks will publish two more Good Books’ e-books, the #1 New York Times bestseller The Mayo Clinic Diet (published last year with more than 500,000 copies in print), and The Mayo Clinic Diabetes Diet, which will also publish in traditional formats in late 2011.
Created by the pregnancy experts at Mayo Clinic, and overseen by medical editors-in-chief Roger Harms, M.D., and Myra Wick, M.D., Ph.D., Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy provides in-depth information including week-by-week accounts of the baby’s development, entries on how pregnancy can be affected by dozens of previous health conditions (such as high blood pressure and diabetes), self-care tips for side effects like nausea and back pain, illustrated sidebars on exercise sequences, and much more. One feature that most pregnant women will find indispensable will be its charts that indicate how to handle troublesome signs and symptoms. There are 200,000 copies of Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy in print in trade paperback.
Mayo Clinic also publishes select print titles with Time Home Entertainment Inc. This relationship will continue and expand to bring these titles into e-book form.
