There’s no question it’s an odd topic for a song, and it’s a pretty safe bet that this one will never top the charts. But it could save your life. March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and recently, Peter Yarrow of the musical group Peter, Paul and Mary appeared on the CBS Early Show to sing a song he composed about his own colonoscopy. Colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer related death in the United States. Yet it’s often a highly preventable disease. In the video below, Dr. Paul Limburg, a Mayo Clinic Gastroenterologist, provides background on colorectal cancer and the screening methods that can help keep you safe.
Here’s a video of Peter Yarrow performing his piece.

I have been looking for some information on an extended study on the blocked vein found and treatment for MS in Italy . Are you researching this? Myself and my son are diagnosed with “Hereditary Spactic Paraparesis” which apparently is associated to MS. My son is advancing far more rapidly than I am and I am extremely concerned to find him some help. Please respond.
Thankyou Martha Mindus
Currently, Mayo Clinic views this information as preliminary only and are not routinely recommending further vascular investigations or surgical interventions for our MS patients. We are interested in these reports here as well, and will compete for funding from the National MS Society (NMSS) to investigate this in our MS patients further.
