Wrist Pain

As described in the February 2009 issue of NWA World Traveler, a Mayo Clinic orthopedic surgeon has discovered a type of wrist injury that can cause debilitating pain.

It doesn’t just affect elite professional athletes like Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Jayson Werth, though. The video below tells the story of an amateur bowler who also had a split tear of his ulnotriquetral (UT) ligament, and shows the relatively simple test to diagnose the injury and the arthroscopic procedure that Dr. Richard Berger uses to fix it.

For more information about diagnosis and treatment of this type of wrist injury, see the ulnar wrist pain page on mayoclinic.org.
